This class is designed to help students discover and reach the full potential they’ve been given by God. The students will research junior colleges, vocational schools and four year universities to find the best possible future for them and learn how to reach the goal they desire. This is a class to offer support for the students academically as well as in other areas. AVID is a community not simply a class. There will be guest speakers from colleges and organizations, relatives and friends who will share about their life experiences. We will visit various campuses throughout the year and explore the different options available to each student.

This AVID class will focus on the following practices to accelerate student learning:

  • Computer research
  • Cornell Note taking
  • Reading and comprehension skills
  • Writing and analyzing skills
  • Organizational/study skills
  • Tutorial and class support

Community service: Each student is required 10 hours of voluntary service each quarter. This can be volunteer work at church, school etc. which needs to be approved by me first.
