Counselor's Den

Betty Goodman

"For nothing is impossible with God." Luke 1:37

The purpose of the Guidance Department at Foothills Christian High School is to prepare, equip and guide students through their high school experience and into their college/career plan. In cooperation with staff, parents, and teachers, students will develop academically and socially toward the goal of being responsible and productive members of society exhibiting godly character.

When you pray the “Prayer of Jabez,” (1 Chronicles 4:10), you never know what God has in store for you, and just how He intends to “enlarge your territory.” Coming to Foothills Christian High School as the Guidance Counselor has definitely enlarged Betty’s territory.

Betty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern California College (now Vanguard University). She received her California Clear Teaching Credential through SDSU and has over 30 years of teaching experience. She is also a Certified Dyslexia Testing Specialist and has tutored students, age 7 through adult, who could not learn to read in the traditional method.

During the past 3 years, Betty has written and sold 20 stories for a new Christian reading series targeted for grades 1-6. She has also been published in several editions of Frank Schaffer’s Classmate Magazine.

Betty is a native Californian. She lives in El Cajon with her husband, Dennis daughter, Melissa and five Vizslas (unless there’s a new batch of puppies).
